What will movers not move?
Short answer
Movers won't transport hazardous or flammable materials — propane tanks, gasoline, paint, aerosols, fireworks, ammunition — plus perishable food and live plants on longer runs. You should personally carry irreplaceables: passports, cash, jewelry, medication, hard drives, and important documents. Everything else in a normal DMV household is fair game for Lift & Chill.

How to clear hazardous items before the day
Montgomery County, DC, and Arlington all run household hazardous waste drop-offs. Plan a trip a week before your move rather than discovering three half-full paint cans while the truck idles outside.
What we do take that surprises people
Gun safes, treadmills, aquariums (drained), oversized art, pianos, and the entire contents of a storage unit. If you're unsure, send a photo — the answer is usually yes with the right equipment.
