Why do movers charge a deposit, and is it refundable?
Short answer
A deposit holds a specific crew and truck on a specific day, which is why movers ask for one — especially for end-of-month and weekend slots that fill fast in the DMV. Lift & Chill asks for $75 to hold your date, and that $75 comes straight off your flat-rate total. The balance is due on move day.

What the deposit actually reserves
Once you hold a date, that truck and crew stop being offered to anyone else for your window. Deposits exist because no-shows cost a small local company an entire day of revenue — not because the price is negotiable afterward.
Changing or cancelling
Plans move. Reschedule from your customer portal or text us and we'll move the hold to a new date when we have availability. Reach out as early as you can — the further ahead you tell us, the more likely your preferred window is still open.

Do I pay the rest before the move?
No. The remaining balance is due when the job is complete. You can pay online through the portal or in person on the day.
Can the deposit be waived?
Sometimes. For small jobs and repeat customers we may book without a deposit — ask when you get your quote.
