What we build
Anything that arrives in a flat box, from a single desk to a whole apartment.
- Beds, bunk beds, and lofted beds
- Dressers and wardrobes, including IKEA PAX
- Desks, office chairs, and standing desks
- Shelving, bookcases, and TV stands
- Sofas, sectionals, and modular seating
- Cribs and children's furniture
What it costs
Assembly is priced as a flat amount for the job. One to five flat-pack pieces usually comes to $120 to $495. The number depends on how many pieces there are and how complex each one is. A wardrobe with sliding doors takes far longer than a side table.
What to send for a quote
The product names tell us almost everything.
- The brand and product name of each piece, or a link or screenshot of the order
- How many of each
- Whether the boxes are already in the room where the furniture will go
- Your floor, and whether there is an elevator, if the boxes still have to be carried up
- Anything that needs to be fixed to a wall, and the wall type, such as drywall, plaster, or brick
Before we arrive
A few minutes of preparation saves a lot of time.
- Check that every box listed on the order has been delivered. Large pieces often ship in two or three boxes.
- Leave the boxes sealed. Loose parts get lost.
- Clear floor space in the room, about the size of the finished piece laid flat.
- Decide where each piece goes, and which way a wardrobe or desk should face.
- Find the outlets and vents, so nothing gets built in front of them.
What is included
The crew brings every tool the job needs.
- A hardware check before we start, so missing parts are found early
- Assembly to the manufacturer's instructions
- Placing and leveling the finished piece
- Cardboard broken down and bagged
Wall mounting and tip-over safety
We mount TVs and wall-anchored shelving. Tell us the wall type when you ask for a quote, since plaster and brick need different hardware from drywall. Tall dressers, bookcases, and wardrobes come with anti-tip hardware, and it is worth using, especially in a home with children. If you rent, check your lease before anything is drilled.
If a part is missing or damaged
We build as far as the parts allow, note exactly what is missing, and stop so you can request a replacement from the retailer. Keep the instruction booklet, since the part number is in it.
Pairing assembly with a move
If you are moving, taking apart and putting back your existing furniture is already part of the move. New flat-pack pieces delivered to the new place can be added to the same quote, and we build them before we leave. We can also pick up the boxes from the store for you.
