Booking & Timing

How far in advance should I book movers in the DMV?

Short answer

Book 2–4 weeks ahead for a typical local move in DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia, and 4–6 weeks ahead for the last weekend of the month, June through August, or any date tied to a lease turnover. Lift & Chill regularly has same-week and next-day availability, so it's always worth texting even on short notice.

The dates that fill first

In the DMV, leases overwhelmingly start on the 1st. That makes the last three days of every month, plus the first weekend, the hardest windows to get. Summer stacks on top of that, and September brings the student and Hill-staffer wave.

If you're already short on time

Text photos of each room and we'll price it fast. Late cancellations and finished-early jobs open up constantly, so a date that looks full today often isn't full tomorrow.

Can you do a same-day move?

Sometimes, especially for small moves and single-item deliveries. Text us and we'll tell you straight away whether a crew is free.

What's the cheapest time to move?

Mid-month, mid-week, and outside of summer. Those windows have the most crew availability across DC, Bethesda, and Arlington.
