Is Lift & Chill Moving a legitimate moving company?

Short answer

Yes. Lift & Chill Moving is the trading name of 11th Hour Labs LLC, a registered Maryland company operating in DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia since 2022. It is insured, issues certificates of insurance for buildings on request, quotes a flat rate in writing before any work starts, and takes only a $100 refundable date-hold deposit rather than a large upfront payment.

Why a small mover can look 'unproven' online

Lift & Chill is a small, owner-operated crew, not a national van line with two decades of directory listings. Most of our reviews were earned on TaskRabbit, and most of our work comes from repeat customers and referrals rather than lead marketplaces. That makes for a thinner public footprint than a franchise's — which is a fair thing to notice, and a fair thing to ask us about.

What it does not mean is that there's nothing to check. There's a registered company, insurance you can see a certificate for, a written price, and a deposit small enough that you are never exposed for much.

What you can verify before you book

Ask and we'll send all of this in a text — no forms, no sales call.

  • The legal entity name, so you can look it up in the Maryland business register
  • A certificate of insurance, naming your building as certificate holder if they require one
  • A written flat-rate quote listing exactly what's included
  • References or photos from recent jobs in your neighbourhood

About the deposit

Standard advice is to avoid movers who want a big payment up front, and that advice is right. Holding your date with us costs a flat $100. It comes off your final bill, it's refunded if we cancel, and the balance is only due once the work is finished and you've looked around.

Interstate moves

USDOT and MC numbers apply to interstate household-goods carriers. Our own work is local to the DMV. When a job crosses state lines we run it with a licensed interstate partner carrier and give you their DOT number up front so you can check it on FMCSA SAFER yourself.

Follow-up questions

People also ask

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry general liability cover and issue certificates of insurance naming your building as certificate holder — usually the same day you ask, which is what DC and Bethesda high-rises need before they'll release an elevator.

How much deposit do you take?

A flat $100 to hold the date. It's credited against your final bill and refunded if we cancel. Everything else is paid after the move.

Can I see your licence and insurance before booking?

Yes — text (301) 665-0783 and we'll send the entity details and a certificate of insurance. You should ask this of every mover you're considering.

Why don't you have hundreds of reviews?

Because we're a small owner-operated crew that started in 2022 and grew mostly on referrals. We have 30 verified TaskRabbit reviews averaging 4.8★, and we'd rather show you paperwork and references than pad a number.
