Why a small mover can look 'unproven' online

Lift & Chill is a small, owner-operated crew, not a national van line with two decades of directory listings. Most of our reviews were earned on TaskRabbit, and most of our work comes from repeat customers and referrals rather than lead marketplaces. That makes for a thinner public footprint than a franchise's — which is a fair thing to notice, and a fair thing to ask us about.

What it does not mean is that there's nothing to check. There's a registered company, insurance you can see a certificate for, a written price, and a deposit small enough that you are never exposed for much.

What you can verify before you book

Ask and we'll send all of this in a text — no forms, no sales call.

• The legal entity name, so you can look it up in the Maryland business register
• A certificate of insurance, naming your building as certificate holder if they require one
• A written flat-rate quote listing exactly what's included
• References or photos from recent jobs in your neighbourhood

About the deposit

Standard advice is to avoid movers who want a big payment up front, and that advice is right. Holding your date with us costs a flat $100. It comes off your final bill, it's refunded if we cancel, and the balance is only due once the work is finished and you've looked around.

Interstate moves

USDOT and MC numbers apply to interstate household-goods carriers. Our own work is local to the DMV. When a job crosses state lines we run it with a licensed interstate partner carrier and give you their DOT number up front so you can check it on FMCSA SAFER yourself.
